we are all aware of the fact that you are one of the few people that catches fish on BL. with that being said, the limit shouldn't make any difference. the rest of us are all such bad fishermen that no matter what the limit is, we aren't hurting the population with a 15 or 25 fish limit. |

Weather....The 3 fronts in may pushing out the shrimp that was here in April killed us. Winds keep you isolated to lee banks along with everyone else putting major pressure on an area. Patterns are off big time. Reefs we are normally smoking the fish on this time of year are not holding #'s. Now we are seeing 97-100 degree temps and the summer time pattern has begun....we barely had a spring at all IMO. I've noticed a lot of silver c r a p in the boat telling me they have been eating fin fish which there is an abundance...The white shrimp are good size but few...and the browns are maggots. I think some of our problem is the shrimp population. The fish you catch on the reefs are nice size and are eating fin fish. But that bite last until some one trolls over the reef on 100 or you loose your tide which has been early lately....The birds are picking on trout in eyeballs and wiskers...the trout are small and sets are loaded with gafftops. I'm ready for the channel bite to start....at least we will be able to count on a bite happening.

Been catching on channel for Over a month. Sheephead reef is on the channel. Not limits but 20-30 consistantly.

Also noticed a pattern on which sets of birds hold bigger trout. May be a quincedence but seems like the smaller the group the better the fish. Ex: end of may when drifting allowed we caught 22 fish off of 3sets of birds all were almost 2lbs.(3-5birds) same day we drifted 2 sets of 15-20birds and hardheads eating plastics and dink trout. Bigger fish were eating finfish smaller ones eating shrimp.

90% of those who fish Sabine are from TX so the limit is 10 and 15"min. but the fish I pull out of Sabine are consistently much larger than those I pull out of BL. This is contradictory to the harvest more small fish theory.

Harvest the small ones works great for ponds. Too many factors on a big body of water. I've talked to biologist and I have the documents. Damn border jumpers coming over here and taking our jobs.... I mean fish !

15 inch min in Texas is not doing nothing but keeping your Female to Male ratio low
Male trout adv to 18inch so in Texas you keep way more female trout vs La which our F to M is real close ratio @ 12 inch min
