I do not blame them for being upset...props to that company changing the job titles.

Kind of like an arena league football player saying he plays professional football....

The job title of an engineer should include an engineering degree, PE, and FE. With out it, it is only a job title, and I highly doubt that these people can legally sign off on jobs the same as an engineer with an actual education.

I know mechanics that work on crew boats that call themselves "engineers," but they laugh about it and understand that they aren't really an engineer.

Throwing the word "engineer" into a job title does not make you into an engineer.

Plenty of engineers with huge chips on their shoulders and also plenty that are good as gold. Just apply and interview. Ask questions and if you do not like the job, don't take it.

Its just a word, who cares. If you are a degreed engineer in a field of study then you know what you are and your pay will show that accordingly.

Im pretty sure the railroad had engineers long before colleges adopted the word.

I was watching Curious George with my kid yesterday and the episode was about trains. The monkey and the guy in the yellow hat talked to an 'engineer'. Now I know that he didn't have an engineering degree, he was a poser and PBS or LPB or whatever they call themselves should take it all back and apologize to the community. I also remember an episode where the man in the yellow hat and george went into a store and the guy was speaking mexican. This is america and we speak american! Boycott LPB

there was a stripper (aka 'pole engineer') at Long Branch Saloon in Mound, La who was 'only working there to pay for college where she was studying to be an engineer, that was in 2005. Went back in 2012 and she is still there, how long does an engineer have to go to school?

Wow only "YOU" can take a few hours from u of h and be classified as an engineer....lol....dang you good I must admit...

But yes Sasol is still planning a big expansion project (company I work for is quoting stuff). But the GtoL plan has been cancelled from what I hear.
Dude you are hating....the 2 best instrument engineers I've ever dealt with came up through the shop and never got a b.s......just regular dudes whith an a.a.s in instrumentation that were grade A technicians that know how to scope and plan a job better than anyone else in the business. Sheepskins ain't s h i t. Neither are titles.

Like I said in one of my earlier comments....we can all call ourselves engineers now...greez.. hell call yourself a DR...I do not care. I just think it is funny how some people want to be called something when they do not have the "sheepskin" on the wall. Their is a certain reason some of us go get that sheepskin....hell lets close down med schools, buisness schools and so.....since it is nothing but a sheepskin on the wall.
