I have the new 2010 F150 with the sway and tow package. I am towing around 5500 lbs.
I have been very pleased with the truck.

the new F150 has more room in the back than the F250 it seems.
4X4 helps at certain landing like BSM but for the most part never use it.
11 MPG when pulling.....

I gotta stop and let some diesel out of my tank sometimes when im towing..>Thats how good my mileage is!!!!

Not many.... 20 not pulling, and about 13 (give or take) with a 32' camper!

Matt has a 2010 F150 and it tows well. I have a 06 F350 powerstroke and I can move my house if I need. i get about 15 all around and 10 when towing my 13000 fifth wheel. I believe Matt's towing capacity is 9000 or so and I think his milage is about 1 or 2 mpg better than mine. His truck rides very good.

One other thing to think about, you can find gas anywhere, sometimes it can be hard to find diesel.

well, while everyone is getting away from the fords, I have the tundra, I regularly pull a 20' trailer with heavy trees weighing thousands of pounds without a problem. I can also haul my skid steer which weighs 8500lbs,and I figure my trailer is at least 1500-2000 lbs. This also is not a problem,so when I hook on to my 22' bay boat,it pulls like a feddur. We just dont really like talkin about gas mileage. I figure Im only getting about 10-12 mpg pulling. Very strong truck though for a gas engine,and the ride is super.

Yes and it is usually when you are running low on diesel. Can't just fill up if you run out have to call someone to prime it or whatever they do. And the pumps are always and I mean always full of the crap on the gound and the handle. The pumps are very slow especially in Texas and some jerk is always parked in front of the pump while they are in the restroom or shooting the bull.

I just test drove the 2011 f250 6.2l gas, and that thing hauls *** and very nice interior!!

Just buy another boat and leave it at Big Lake so you wont have to tow one anymore. Probably be cheaper than a new truck too...LOL

You need a 5/8 ton F-200 dieseline, problem solved

Any 5.x L gas burner will pull a rig your size, but obviously with reduced fuel economy. You have to ask your self just how often will you be towing and how long are the tows. I pull a 25' camper with a F150 5.4L 373rear end, but it is on relatively flat ground (LA, east TX, AR, MS AL). I pull a 30hp tractor and gear as well. You have to realize the pulling power of a gas burner is adequate for occassional pulling and moderately distanced towing as well, you just can't drag race with it or cruise along at 75 or 80 mph. As for the diesels go Ford keeps changing their motors for two reasons. 1: They haven't developed a motor that will give the needed fuel economy along with the required power that will burn low sulfur diesel and more importantly 2: They are a majority owner of Cummings Diesel and Cummings has a lucrative deal with Dodge right now. Until that contract expires, Ford won't make waves with Dodge which would jeopardize the Cummings contract. I've been told the new 2011 6.4L F250/350's will only produce 15-17 mpg hwy not towing. My pops has a 2002 F350 7.3 liter getting 19-22 mpg hwy not towing 15-17 towing. It's just not justifyable for my needs to spend the extra $ on a diesel (purchase price and routine maintenance) to to what I do that a V-8 gas burner can't do. Sorry for the rambling, that's just my $.02 plus $.02 more.
