Throwing the word "engineer" into a job title does not make you into an engineer.

So what would put you or someone else above the rest? Degree? Experience? Knowing someone?. I'm a college student right now is the reason I ask

GPA separates degreed engineers when applying for competitive positions. Everyone who hires engineers knows 2.x GPAs indicate a mediocre work ethic through college. Hiring managers are enthusiastic about grads with 3.5 and above GPAs in engineering disciplines and will pay a lot more attention to GPAs above 3.0 than in the 2.x range.

Most places now wont touch you for I or E without the education (unless you have alot of experience, like some of the older guys), and the better jobs in the area require at least a few years expierience plus the education

If you know someone you can probably could in with minimal experience but probably would still need the degrees

If you have all three, you wont have much trouble finding a good job

Who you know. but i would suggest taking the travel jobs and get experience. Have buddies that worked out of town for a couple of years and then worked their way back here.
