Never leave the landing without 600 live shrimp. When approaching gulls working over a school start throwing handfuls of live shrimp in the water as you ease into casting distance. Will keep the birds and fish right there. Fish with glow grubs under a cork.

Can't tell you guys how much I've learned from this thread.

And the key to staying on them, after you catch the first trout, you get on the bow of the boat and do your 10 LBS. achor olympic sky hook. The higher you throw the anchor into the air, the better!!!! The deep splaching sound simulates shrimp feeding!!!

There are a few gold medalists in the Vermillion Bay area! Some are so talented, the throw the anchor skyward, cast and have a fish hooked before the anchor touches the water!!!

Anybody else see the specimins???

Shhhh, y'all ain't got nothin on the Big Lake athletes. They have guys that train year round then head to Grand Bayou and compete with fellow anchor tossers. The ship channel jetties late summer is also a popular destination for anchor throwing enthusiast.
