I need to check and see if my boat insurance covers stuff like that. Is that covered under normal insurance or do you get an additional rider?

Your mechanic will have to give U a letter verifying you hit something.. It should cover it..
Most marine insurances do... |

My insurance covered a brand new lower unit when I hit a submerged rock. Only had to pay a couple hundred

Haven't torn into it. Looks like it just sheared prop shaft. I that's the case I won't even claim it on insurance. When I got my insurance I made sure it would cover these types of accidents. I'm covered thru state farm.

Over on the west side, south of the washout in levee. Go thru that area all the time. Just a bad path.

That happened to me on Sabine. I checked it out and started repairs. My insurance said they wouldn't cover it because I didn't call them before repairs. Go ahead and contact them just in case.
