Default Live bait under a cork

I was wondering what is the best way to fish live shrimp under a cork. Don't worry I'm not fishing the trout shuutout. I've been out of saltwater fishing for a long time. Just need some advice.

In before W says "With a hook and line"

If I'm fishing a cork It's at most a 2 foot leader. Have heard of others fishing 3-5 feet below in a little deeper water.

I guess I shoulda been more specific. Do you use a lead head. A leader like caralina. And do you pop the cork.

2/0 kahle hook, split shot weight #4 I think and a popping cork. fish anywhere from 2' to 4.5' deep. Play with it and see what depth the trout want it. Carolina rig works also. I usually just use 2 split shots on the bottom. Doesn't seem to hang up as much.

weightless or with a little split shot lead weight with treble hooks regular cork, no need to pop! just wait! thats how I do it, but I rarely use live bait and a cork, I drop shot or carolina rig live bait!

I think that popping the cork kills the skrimp by pulling their tiny little heads off!

popping the cork gives an artificial bait the action of a shrimp, a live shrimp doesn't need me to give it, it's natural action!

...or maybe it gives off a sound like a fish eatin' on top of the water. It's not a bobber, it's a POPPER!
