Like me...I'd never buy a Mercury motor or Dodge truck...i'd say, stay away from them...but some people swear by them.

Same here.........I always thought it was agin the law to buy a Merc or a Darge. I've never owned either but, apparently, they're solid products....considerin' they've been around longer than me. I don't knock a product unless I've owned it and know from experience.

I had a 200 Mercury for 14 years. Dang good motor. When I sold her, she was still running like the day I bought her.
I got a Yamaha cause that's all that came with the boat I wanted. Don't regret it yet.

What's up on the Etecs anyhow...see a lot of people bashing them... but has anyone ever had one? I would run the suzuki behind it but just curious as to why not ETEC....personally i like the clip of how the ETEC sinks the overweighted and low torque yamaha. I'm not hating on Yamaha...they make some dam good motors and i'm a proud owner of one.

I have an E-TEC & not a problem(knock on wood), have a 5 year warranty also, 2 stroke "get up & go" with 4 stroke fuel milage (pretty darn close anyway), Didn't care about buying one when I was looking, couldn't pass up the deal I got on the boat & motor. I love it. I hear alot of negative things about them, haven't found one E-TEC owner yet that wasn't satisfied. Like asking Chevy or Ford, you'll get different answers.

BTW.......Owned 2 yamaha 150's & loved them, Have had a couple Mercs also w/o a problem

Some problems engines USE to have, the company worked alot of them out. With all this technology most motors well be almost all worry free IMO

I have three close friends that bought E-tec and they've never regretted that decision. They will run circles around a Yamaha with more horsepower. Outboard repair shops don't like 'em cause they never break down.

as far as performance i love my suzuki 4 stroke my dad has a 4 stroke mercury and it is too slow out the water. as far as motor differences thats a dodge chevy ford discussion. all the motors should be fine. i would look at performance, whether you want to mix oil or injection that might fail stuff like that. they are all computers anyway and most come with a 5 or 6 year warranty. so mechanical wouldn't bother me unless someone has a horror story from them selves

thats a nice boat. by the way

Salty........all I know is Sat morning March 12th at 6:00 am W kept looking over his shoulder & told his partner I can't shake Ramsay in that Skeeter! It took him a little bit but he finally pulled away from that E-TEC.
