my father in law hunts in PI South side and he went out the last week of OCT to pump the water out of their blinds. He said they saw several hundred ducks. From what I am seeing, it looks like it may be some nasty weather on SAT which I love. We always seems to do better in the rice fields when it is overcast and a light rain.

Rumor has it that our ponds were full of ducks last week in Chauvin...now there's not a drop of water to be found!

Hopefully the water comes back up before Saturday.

I think the birds are thick everywhere. The rice fields near the Atch basin are loaded, the marsh is holding lots of birds also.

I talked to some guys in AR(Little Rock/Stuttgart) last week, they said with the drought conditions they have very little flooded timber and few flooded fields. I also talked to some guys that went bowhunt in IL this week and they said on the drive up all of the fields along the MS river that are normally flooded and full of birds are bone dry. I hope this means a lot of birds will bypass AR and come down to us...

I went ride out to the lease in Pecan Island yesterday. Pulled up to our hole that we slayed the teal for teal season and jumped prob 200-250 ducks. Lots of big ducks (greys and mallards) and a good bit of teal. The cold weather we have been getting killed alot of our cover though. Stayed out there till dark. Right before dark, the sky was covered with ducks. Should be on and crackin' this Saturday.
