Default 40 HP outboard

Looking for a 40 hp to get my old flat running again, wondering what you guys think the best motor that size is ? I have had Mercs, Yamahas and have a 150 Yamaha on my bay boat and like it but have not had a small motor in a while. Thanks

The strongest 40 on the market is the tohatsu 40/50. It comes with 5 years of warranty. They are very stout units.

I'd go Yamaha. Parts are easy to find and they are easy to work on.

The Yamaha is 45 cubic inches, othing can be done to make more power. The tohatsu is 53 cubic inches, that is their 40/50 unit, it has a restrictor plate that can be removed in about 30 seconds to bump it to 50.
