I personally have not seen any oyster boats working inside the bay, only outside SW pass. However, there are a few shell reef's located around the Hammock.

Oyster don't like fresh water and since that drains the Atchafalaya River i couldn't imagine there being a big population of Oysters.

Vermilion to Atchafalaya bay are public seed grounds. That being said with the influence of the River except for outside of marsh island and the Tee Bute area its hard for oysters to thrive. Also I'm pretty sure back in the day the bay was dredged for shells.

You also have to remember back in the say places like the trash pile had Cypress, not exactly oyster habitat.
