My buddy has one. Told me he hunted with it the other day and it kept jamming on him. Said he could only get off one shot everytime. This was only 3rd time he hunted with it. Pretty sweet gun though.

Any reason for the jams?

I don't know. He said at first that morning it was shooting fine then it would only shoot one shot. I guess something with the magazine. It was brand new and u should clean off the packing grease. He might not have done that.

I did clean off the packing grease...but I used winchester gun oil which is very thick...I took it back home degreased her and put rem oil on which is lighter and did not have any problems til this year. I'm thinking I may have some issues with Kent shells...My gun shot fine the other day...I don't know??

I'm old school. No camo or synthetic for me.

U say that, but spend the extra $100 and get a camo. U wont regret it. Last 2 guns I bought were camo. Wherever that camo is, it will not rust. Hunting in the marsh, I would never bring a brand new synthetic or blued gun out there. The barrel would rust before u got it out the case!

I have a Benelli M1 and an SBE II. I have had the M1 for about 10 years and the SBE II for about 4 years. I will never buy anything else. Only con to a Benelli compared to a gas-operated gun is that you gotta keep it reasonably clean. I guess with the inertia operation, all the working parts need to stay as free of debris/trash as possible. I usually clean mine about every 5-6 hunts and have no problems. My buddy has an SBE II and never cleans it, and he never has issues. I just make sure to clean mine every so often b/c it will start hanging on u. Beretta/Remington/Brownings u could go a whole season without cleaning it and probably won't have any issues.

In the marsh, your gun takes in alot of debris/marsh grass/etc. That's how I know when mine is due for a cleaning. You can open it up and see all the trash in it.

It jammed because it's a Berretta

that is because you are not supposed to put 4 shells in it

I've got a Browing BPS that is 10 years old and is the camo synthetic. I haven't had any issues with it. I have used it at as a push pole, thrown it on the ground, & it was a boat paddle on "1" occassion and I haven't had any issues with it (knock on wood)...
I wouldn't buy another shotgun that wasn't synthetic unless I was gonna strictly be target shooting or not hunting ducks/geese in the marsh. |

I think it is likely the shells you are using.
With that said, I have shot literally thousands of rounds out of a Urika gold sporting model, in the rain, heat, cold, night, day ............all kinds of conditions and there are some shells it just does not like. I see the same in ALL the models on the sporting clays range. I hunt with and older WOOD stock 686 Onyx, same thing thousands of rounds, used as a paddle, push pole, anchor, nutra deterant ...........and I hunt in Venice, on public land with no motorized boats, so the thing is not treated like a china doll. and there are shells out there that will not fit the gun in certain conditions. They swell, some when wet, some seemingly when cold, some when hot........ While the gun will shoot them when I force them in, the extractor will not spit them when I crack the gun open. That is a fine weapon made by literally the oldest company in the history of companies, You can bet it has more to do with loads than weapon. Not saying the "B" guns have not made bad ones...........but 99.99999% of them are just fine. |
