Default Grand Isle in Dec/Jan?

We're thinking of trailering down from Arkansas to Grand Isle for a week over the holidays.

How's the weather and the fishing then? I'm in a seaworthy 21-foot offshore center console and mainly interested in offshore stuff, but happy to catch anything that's biting.

Any recommendations on where to stay? I'll be bringing my wife, a 3 year old, and some grandparents, so looking for a family kind of place.

We rent a camp from http://www.grandislerentalsolutions.com every summer. they are very good about fixing something right away if it breaks and have always been very happy with the quality of the properties. The one we have stayed at the last few years is called pepsi camp. I like it because it has a large screened in porch underneath but in the winter that doesnt matter as much. Inshore is pretty slow around the island at that time of year, its better up by leeville, but offshore can be good.
