Default Indian Creek-12/26/13

Well the day started quickly with me catching a fish on my first throw

And then catching 4 others in the same spot. After they settled down we ran to mid lake, where we are pretty sure we saw some mojo ducks and hunters setup (can you hunt here?), so we left them alone and went hit some points on the west side. Had one nearly rip the rod out of my hands, but she got off in the grass. Anyways... Pattern today was jerk baits over grass 2-6' down. 14 was the final tally. Most about 1-1.5 pounds, couple nicer ones.

Believe it or not I temporarily lost my favorite jerkbait twice today, but it floated back to the top after some pike got to floss their teeth with my string.

Got to see a bunch of geese on the way home too

Well it's definitely a tough lake, comparable to chicot, but I'd say its one of my favorite places to fish. I never complain about a lake when my next cast could be 10+ pound fish lol

Indian Creek is tough, in part, because the water is so clear. I do much better with light tackle, and even fly rod. In fact, flyfishing can be great at times. As for the trophy-size fish... the Florida-strain bass love all the Cenla lakes. They are tougher to catch than native Northern strain bass, and grow more rapidly in these deeper, clear lakes. Lakes Concordia, St. John, Grand Bayou, Caney hold the most numbers of 8+ pound fish, but Chicot, Indian Creek, Kincaid, Cotile, Anacoco all have a few.
