Default Academy sales in Lake Charles

Todays paper flyer on Academy said that there would be 25-50% off sales on select merchandise. The old store will be closing at the end of the week and the new store [located just down the street] will be opening this coming weekend..... Friday I think.

The Key Word..... is select merchandise, really very little stuff was on sale, but this did not keep the people away. The parking lot was just about full all the way out to the road and 5 to 8 people in line at each of the many cash registers that were open when I went there at noon today.

It has been 2 or 3 weeks since I was last there...... an I was hoping to find a couple of items I need on sale. This did not happen. Even on my last trip there, the inventory was a little low. Today, things like fishing baits were mostly empty spaces and full price. This was also true.... in general.... as I walked around the store. I would have gotten another pair of Lacrosse Grainger knee boots.... it they would have had any..... and on sale.

In the fishing rod area where there is normally 1000 rods..... there was maybe a dozen rods left . Ammo was very very low.

Turkey stuff was one of the few things that was 50% off..... an I picked up another slate call. Stuff like reels, guns, bows and hunting clothing was all full price.

I wonder if, in a couple of days..... the remaining stuff will be marked down, and will there be anything the average person would want to buy?

That sale has been going on for over a week from what I understand. When I went friday there wasnt a rod on the shelf. They still had several reels on sale but they were they out of the box displays and nothing good was left. I left empty handed. Only went because the report I got was "whole store" was 50% off

I went last Friday and it seemed the Trailer Parks where empty and looked like the front of a Home Depot in El Paso. The crowds were rude and A$$holes

I do hate the parking lot.... But i do like that you can actually move around in the new store with all the room. Seems like a much larger hunting and fishing area also. And Alot more rod n reels.
