If you can get roundup and 2-4D that will kill almost everything but cocoa grass/sedge grass. Likely if it comes back in a couple weeks what you're spraying is just a burn down chemical and not an actual weed killer.

how can you tell the difference and what gives you the best value for results with weed and grass killers?

im looking for killing both to control all growth in certain unaccessible areas to the lawn mower and I am not as much worried about weeds out in the lawn.

I want scorched earth dead zones you spray just once and its dead for the entire summer kind of stuff and if the neighbors cat dies I can dig a hole lol.

I was thinking about mixing a little gasoline with used motor oil but that's messy and stains concrete.

2-4-D is a broadleaf herbicide and glyphosate is more for grasses, although it does work on broadleaf weeds

Mixture of roundup/2-4-D will kill almost anything that grows in your yard. Mix it at about a 2% solution. Oh and get the generic roundup. I think I pay $40 for 2.5 gallons

2-4D/round up mix works the best. Most feed stores carry the generic stuff as well as home depot. The feed shop in duson has the generic roundup called cornerstone, works well.

I buy it at Premier in Kaplan, but most feed stores and ranch supplies will have it. The brand they carry is honcho I think. The chemical is called glyphosate

Been wanting to ask this cuz I use round up and it's only been keeping the weeds back for about 2-3 weeks.. How long does the 2-4D/round up mixture keep weeds down?

Same problem here. I've been using Hi-Yield Killzall from True Value and it kills it quick. It just doesn't stay dead for long. I came across some ground clearer granules the other day at Lowes and thought about giving that a shot.

We probably spray Roundup/2-4D once a month. And once you get your lines established it takes very little to keep it back.

What he said. ^^

It all comes down to the active ingredient. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in roundup and I THINK amine is the active ingredient in 2-4D.

thanks, I am looking for something like a total vegetation herbicide to completely sterilize the soil under my house.

its completely surrounded by concrete so if I can sterilize the soil it should stay grass and weed free for a very long time but I may at some point have to crawl under there so I don't want to soak the soil in oil or diesel.

the rest of the yard I can do with weed and grass killers and the occasional weedeating but I cant do weedeating under the house and its 4 ft off the ground so it gets plenty of sunlight to make stuff grow.

I don't know any names off the too of my head but I know that they seek ground sterilizers like for driveways and stuff. Where are you located?

Ahhh. That's a bit out of my range. But any lawn and garden store should have some kind of ground sterilizer.

Arsenal and oustxtra but you are not going to want to pay the price. Glyphosate and 2-4D will kill about anything. Just mix it at 3% to 5%. There is a chart in the book that will tell you oz to gal of water to get the %.
