Heard that the trees in the water not far from the landing can be good [east bank].

I have seen them several places over at Sherburne. Found a nesting site for a kite and Barn owl one year while Turkey hunting.

I have kites that fly around my house all day long. Would they be swallowtails as well?

Probably Mississippi Kites, Swallowtaileds are very noticeable. Bigger and that forked tail, they do sly over Lafayette though, the basin is one of the better places to see them.
The MS Kites are flying around eating bugs, the swallowtaileds love to eat snakes

I have 4 or 5 that circle my house all day, everyday. I live around Gloria Switch east of I-49. Even been hearing tree ducks pretty often flying over at night lately.

They are fun to watch, they will pluck a dragonfly or cicada right out the air
