Default Vibrio

Just read a report on the net of two young boys getting infected with Vibrio las weekend in LA. Just want to make sure that you all have Bleach on ya boat to kill this stuff if you ever have any open wounds on the water....no matter how small.

You was infected but I don't think it was vibrio. That's the flesh eating crap.

If you get an infection from a wound in salt water on the gulf coast, assume Vibrio. Don't assume the doctor treating you is assuming Vibrio. Ask him if the antibiotic he prescribes you is effective against it b/c lots of them are not.

A lot of doctors have never seen vibrio and don't think of it as a first diagnosis.

My mom died last june of an unknown bateria infection. Doctors were waiting on the blood cultures to come back when she passed. She and my dad were at our camp in gibson and had gone fishing 5 or 6 days before she died and as always she caught 90% of the fish. They were fishing in the canal right by bayou black marina. Well she had several cuts on her hands and that is possible how she got infected. She was feeling like she had a bad flu and when she decided to go to the doctor her body was shuting down. Long story short if you think you may have it go to the doctor as soon as possible.
