Default Kona Bill Tournaments

Anyone here interested in any of these Kona Billfish tournaments? Know it's far but this could replace a sail trip for some and an experience of True Bill Tourny for most. Just thought it might be worth looking at.

My wife went there last year with some friends. One of them caught a 300 lb. Blue Marlin.
The rest got really wet. It was very very rough.

Jordan, you aren't even close on the Benjamin's my boy. Friend has fished the Extreme Billfish Tournaments and entry is around $50,000 per boat on that series by invitation only. Throw in another $15,000 for the boat, skipper, mates and we would need a pay day loan. If you fish these tournaments you live in a whole nother world.

BK.......Have you seen the big Marlin in the hotel on the north shore [I think] of Maui.

I don't remember the name of the hotel....King "something", but there were two mounted on the wall. One was ~1000# and the other ~1100#.....if I remember correctly the big one was the world record at the time.

Hard to imagine it being rough out of Kona? They musta been fishn windward side. The Kona classic is on 375 entry fee plus basic charter charges ranging from 450-? But most of the bill tourny trail is for the peeps wiping the arse w/ 20's n 100's. The 1100lb marlin came out of Kona. I saw the replica 2 weeks ago over there and it's a beast. I've read stories out of the book Chronicles of Kona where they've had Marlin on so big that they couldn't even move them. Fish just did as it wished for hours.

Lucky dog! I've had camera issues for both my bills.

400 # Blue out of Venice, camera fogged up, no pics!

Sailfish out of Mexico, angler had thumb over lens, no pics!

We have friends from Pleasure Island who moved their sportsfisher from Port Arthur to Grand Isle last summer. The wife caught a 300 lb. Blue Marlin on the way over.

Kahunaz buy that Panga and I'll fish it with you.
I'll bring my 6500c, ugly stick and 50lb power pro. That should be plenty.

Nice fish spectator! I've got my first trip set up for the 27th of this month out of Kona. Wanted to get a trip in already but fishing has been somewhat slow. Not sure what the etiquette is back home ....but i found it odd that the captains keep a lot of the marlin here. I've actually eaten it here.. raw (Poki) and in jerky form. Not the best tasting fish imo but not terrible either.

Yeah Stealth....I'm not gonna beat my self to death (via aluminator) another year when i get back. You were right when you said i'd regret selling my bay boat. Hard as hell to go from fishn "Big" in a bay boat to fishin it in a nator. Can't begin to tell you how many times last year i was out in that boat running from storms WOT w/ 1-2ft chop bogging me down @ 7mph, soak n wet, azz on fire, etc. etc. LOL We'll wear that SOB out when i get back.
