Every year for the Oimans rodeo the winds decide to pick up and blow, as if on queue by the fish gods. I went to sleep last night with a forecast of 4-6 kts and woke up to 13-17. How do you miss it by that far? I will never understand. We can put a robot on planet Mars, extract oil from miles underground, use x-ray vision to see through peoples clothes, but we can't seem to figure out how to predict the wind! At any rate, we carried on as planned with our fishing trip. We arrived late on the scene, drenched in sea water. The fish were not at their designated location today with the change in wind direction and water clarity. On the hunt we went. We patrolled the area looking for anything that looked fishy. We didn't go far when the birds let us in on their hiding place. I dropped the MotorGuide Xi5 and went to work. The trout were there and feeding heavily on big shrimp. Every cast, two at a time action ensued. When the smoke cleared my customers determined our catch was sufficient for the day and told me to dial in the 'home' waypoint. We had to run in the trough away from our destination and then turn back into the 3 footers. The Blue Wave handled the job and we arrived safely back in Cocodrie. Tomorrow may be another blowout, but I suppose the only way to know is to GO!
