Default Trailer Inspections in Louisiana?

I live in East Texas and fish Venice every late fall.
Just saw something about trailer inspection tags.

What's the deal?
Don't have any place to inspect trailer in TX that I know of.

I have my trailer inspected by the same bunch that does my vehicle, its more about paperwork and lights than anything else. Just keep the sticker in with the trailer paperwork and you are good to go, at least in Louisiana.

Allot of guys don't bother with it, I figure if I ever got into an accident related to the trailer this may give me a leg to stand on ...

I just bought a 6'x12' trailer a couple weeks ago and at the place I bought it from the salesman told me you are supposed to get your trailer inspected just like a vehicle and that state troopers are starting to enforce this.

So where do you get a trailer inspected, same place that does vehicles? And where does the inspection go?

I work at the fire station with a guy here in Lafayette who on the side has a business that does vehicle inspections. He was telling me its a paper they give you to keep with your registration. He said more than likely you won't get checked but if the trailer is involved in a wreck the will for sure check it...

Here's an old thread.... http://www.saltycajun.com/forum/show...ection+sticker

Personally, I think its a good thing. Some of the crap that people pull behind their trucks should be sent to the scrap yard.
