This is an odd story.
CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) - The body of a missing Lake Charles man was recovered at the saltwater barrier on the Calcasieu River on Wednesday, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. Deputies with the Calcasieu Sheriff's Office responded to a complaint on Monday of a man who appeared to be intoxicated swimming at the Old Hwy 171 boat launch. Deputies conducted a search for the man but where unable to locate him. The sheriff's office received a call on Tuesday regarding 44-year-old Christopher Woodard of Lake Charles, who had been reported missing for 24 hours. According to the caller, Woodard left to go to the store but never returned. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Marine Division and the U.S. Coast Guard went to the Old Hwy 171 boat launch to search for Woodard. His body was located at the saltwater barrier, 3.5 miles downstream from where the search began and where he was last seen on Monday. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says foul play is not suspected. |
