Default Boating safety

Guys.. I just read on my facebook page.. A young man from Baldwin, Drowned when he and his friend where going deer hunting off the Atchafalaya River.

Report on another outdoor website indicated boat hit underwater object.. Capsizing boat.. Only one was wearing lifevest.. Guess which one??

This is very tragic.. AND Doesn't have to happen.. Water temps are in the low 50's..

U hit the water with that temp.. Your gone..

PLEASE REMEMBER to WEAR UR lifevest and cinch it up..

I hate hearing about accidents like that, but thanks for the reminder. I have run that river quite often & it can get pretty foggy down there.

Always wear my vest, I try to not wear knee boots or waders in the boat either, buddy of mine flipped the boat last year, he was the only one not wearing knee boots or waders and he's the only one that lived, the others couldn't get the waders/ boots off and couldn't keep up with the current in the river

I was thrown from the boat in the calumet cut where it meets the intercostal several years ago. Still don't know what really happened. The boat slid sideways and hooked bad and threw me. It was really cold out and I was wearing lots of clothes with a life jacket but my head was barley above the water. Thank god I was wearing my kill switch and was able to get to the side of the boat and hang on till someone came by and helped me out of the water.
The next day I bought one of these.
