After frogging out of the boat, we were hauling boogie back to the launch, still wearing our headlights, looking for more frogs and WHAM, Meskobie Duck smacked me right in the head.
Guess it was flying towards the light and I was moving towards him. Talk about a surprise. Midnight, slightly buzzed on Miller Lite, 14 ft. boat with 3 of us in it. Wide open. Never seen it coming. |

Have had mullet jump into the boat often while heading to the duck ponds early in the morning.

I have had carp [2 or 3 lbs] jump in the boat a few times in the Atchafalaya Basin. When it is dark......I try to run with no lights to keep them from jumping at me.
I have seen some jumping that might go 8 lbs. |

Sc member "waterbowl" who lives in Florida just called me the other day said a mullet jumper out the water , hit a rod in the vertical rod holder bounced off hit him in the shoulder then bounced off him and put a 8" crack in the cowling of his new 250yammy SHO! $2400.00 worth of damage!

He ya go.....this was about a month ago, them SOB's are taking over our lake, they are coming out of the Miss River that floods into the lake every year, this one landed in the boat landing on top of about 5 rods, all I saw when it went flopping was 5 rods & 5 curados flying up in the air! Didn't lose any! Figured it to weigh 12-15lbs. Had probably 10 or so hit the side of the boat before this one made it in!

Ladwf did some promoting at leblancs grocery stores with some local chefs on how to clean and cook them. I think it's mandatory you can't release them if they jump in ya boat lol.

On the Illinois River, they have a Redneck Fishing Tourny. No rod and reels. Dip nets and boats only.
They have queens dressed up in their queen dresses catching them in the air with dip nets. They turn in all the fish and it is grinded up and turned into fertilizer. I saw a show on the Redneck tournament on Outdoor Channel one time. Funniest reality show I ever saw. Town of 350 people turns into 15,000 people for a weekend. |
