Default 11.15.11 Foggy Fish Catchin' on Big Lake

Well the weatherman was wrong again today but at least it was a good thing this time. What started as a forecast from hell turned into a near perfect morning on Big Lake. It was just a little foggy. We drifted a couple reefs and caught about 50ish by 9:30, then finished off our 4 man limit under a good group of birds. The guys wanted some reds and flounder so we went in search of a few. Ended up catching 2 flounder and about 6 reds, only 2 of which we kept. It was a pretty awesome day on the lake. The water was crystal clear, green, and calm all morning. Caught everything on glow sparkle beetles and glow/chartreuse sand eels. I left the topwater bait at home thinking it was going to be white capping...big mistake...would have been great today. We saw trout popping everywhere. Maybe next time....

On our first stop we were catching solid trout but you could barely feel them hit the jig. It seemed like they were just mouthing it...didn't seem aggressive at all. On our second stop we were watching trout jump clean out the water after shrimp. They looked like mullet jumping. They were in a frenzy and I was kicking myself for leaving my topwater rod at home. I don't ever go out without it but I figured I could make a little more space by leaving it at home today....lol thats usually how it goes

Our 1st stop I could of killed 2 limits of teal, 1 Loon...

We had fish but nothing coming in the boat...

2nd Stop I could not drift...tide was going out...wind was light south..I would just stay in one place.... When I would troll up we would stick two or three than stall again

Lol about the teal. And yea I hear ya about staying still. I stopped on spot #1 thinking we were drifting, come to find out 15 minutes later we moved about 10 feet. Luckily once we found 'em, they were all in one spot so I didn't have to worry about trolling and spooking them or drifting over them. It kinda worked out for us
