With my trolling motor dead, decided to head out to the cove to join the armada.
Launched around 6:30 just before light broke. It was foggy as hell.
Lacking a trolling motor, I snuck into the cove and tossed the anchor. After the light came up a bit better, I realized I was surround by 20-30 people who had roughly the same idea. Luckily, everyone except for one jackwagon who hauled straight the middle of the boats was courteous.
Long story short, I put 6 trout in the boat, largest 16". As soon as the light started to break through the fog and the wind picked up a bit, the bite died for me. Folks with live bait continued to produce (live shrimp under a popping cork seemed to be what most were throwing).
After the sun broke through the clouds (10:00 or so?) I headed over to the trash pile. Water looked a bit more clear, but no bite. So I headed out.
Caught 50/50 on a black/chart cocahoe and pearl gulp shrimp.
They seemed to want it very slow along the bottom, waiting for the "tap tap" and then letting it sit for 5 seconds or so while they scooped the bait.
