Choc Lab
I am wanting to get a Choc Lab Pup to get ready for next hunting season. If anyone knows of any good blood lines out there that has pups, let me know. Thanks, Mark |

If you want a pup for next season you are a bit behind the curve on starting the process.
PM Mallardhead. I got a pup from him this time last year. Hell of a dog. |

I figured I am cutting it kind of close. But it should be ready by the hunting season. Not having much luck finding one right now.

Look in the Louisiana Sportsman online classified ads. There are a lot of labs for sale there. Many of them already started!

What's your price range? 600-1000?
Whatever animal you buy make sure it's parents hips are certified and it is EIC and CNM clear. If the breeder doesn't know what that is then you need to move on or you're setting yourself up for failure. Plan on a generically deficent animal that can cause triple the pup cost price in bet bills. |

Nick,
I am good with up to 1K if it is a good dog with good blood line. I have one breeder I talked to but he does not have any pups right now. He said he will be breeding his dogs soon and will have some around spring. If I have to I will get on the list now. I was hoping to find a pup tho have ready for next year. A spring pup may be pushing that some. Mark Quote:

Thanks everyone, I just put a deposit on a Male from Gator point's Bayou Chopper. The puppies will be born around the 23rd. I am feeling like a kid waiting on Christmas. Talked to a trained and be be lining that up soon. Due to the way I work I will need to send him off to be trained. Hopefully we will be ready for next year's hunting season.

I am talking the Brendon at Southern Elite Retrievers and also Mr Johnson at D-2 Kennels. I still have some time to get all of that set up.
