Default Big Lake 11/21

Decided to dare the weather man and head out in the wind this morning. Hit turner's at about 8:00. Very few boats and a pretty nice chop on the water. Couldn't so much as buy a bite. Even with live bait.

Around 10, the winds picked up so we headed back to LNG canal for a bit of reprieve. Caught 2 flounders, a spec, a few white/sand trout, couple 'a rat reds, croakers, etc... Decided to go looking for greener pasture.

Fished a few protected canals, but the water was horrible. Headed over to the eights. Water looked good and ended up putting 20+ more trout in the boat in about 2 hours.

Better than me and Jedi. We were in turners also and managed 3 trout. All caught on jerks and released. Great job guys.

"The eights" is what I call the port at the end of the LNG.

The shoreline there is lined with interlocking cement 8's.

Head east out of the landing and stop when you hit a brick wall of eights.

Launched out of calcasieu pt.

In other news, the bait guy at calcasieu point says he's shutting down on wednesday until the end of the year. Says the shrimp are getting too small. You can take that with a grain of salt, I guess.

I may have misspoken. According to my source (buddy who actually bought the bait on sunday), they won't be selling live shrimp *after* wednesday.

I don't know if that means they're closing up shop, shutting down just the live shrimp, etc...

Oh I see, I didn't know that's what they were called. Me and my little boy were there also Sunday, we were all the way to the north corner. Caught a couple specs but mostly white trout.

Talked to some people today with Saturday and Sunday reports with great success on flounder South of the ferry on either side of the channel. They also said alot of waders were out and doing decent on trout and flounder in the same area.
