Default Toledo Bend 1/14/2017

I think everybody tore 'em up this weekend but me at the Bend. I didn't go too far from the launch due to having to wait on a repair guy (our camp had no central air).
Caught 8, kept two for dinner.
Zoom Trick Worms and lizards from bank to 5' deep. Water temp 59.5-60 degrees mainly, but 62 in some areas.

I don't get up there often enough to really learn the lake. I've been thinking it might be a good investment to rent a guide for a day and pick his brain a little.
The guys that know the lake well really pull in some great fish consistently.

A friend of mine tore them up at San Patricio this weekend, I should have gone with him because the deer sure didn't move.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you must have feet like a ballerina. If I kept all my rods leaning on my front deck like that, all the tips would be broken from stepping on em.. Nice report!!

just fishing by the landing and catching 8 sounds like a great day to me. Bringing a couple home for supper perfect.

There's actually a little "runway" right up the middle of the rods. It's a small aluminum boat. I never step on 'em, though. It looks worse in the pic than it really is.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful about catching fish (I've had plenty of days when I didn't). I'm just always getting basically the same results at Toledo and I think I could do better.

I feel the same way. Unless I am there for more than 1 day (more time to figure them out) I catch bigger fish on the river, lol. But the potential for bigger fish is there so it's worth it. You never know !
