Default Ideas For Group Cooking

I'm going to be setting up at one of the tee boxes for a client golf tournament and need some ideas on what to cook.

Criteria is as follows:

1.) people have to talk about it once they leave, so cool factor and flavor can be equal parts. If they aren't equal parts, one of them has to be off the charts.

2.) it will more than likely be hot outside, so a steaming hot pistolette or a jalapeño laced concoction isn't preferred

3.) can't be too elaborate of it has to be done all on site, but can be if preparation can be done days before and it simply gets tossed on a grill or in the pot the day of

I don't want to just be another guy with jambalaya or rooster bullets, surely some of yall have great ideas you can pass along!

i'd do finger foods. bacon wrapped oysters, redfish/shrimp/veggie/fruit kabob's, oyster rockerfeller type thing, roasted asparagus or corn, and some smoked fish dip. make some of the pepper ranch saltine crackers with jalapeno jelly and cream cheese. stuff that they can grab and run with.

Yea. Cook shrimp onions and bell peppers night before. Put on ice. Next day put down tortilla lettuce shreds, cold shrimp. Top with sauce. Roll and serve.

Also-- an icechest with a couple hundred towels to give away that are soaked in ice cold Florida water is always a big hit for those tourneys.

You could get some alligator wings. Actually these are the legs of small gators. Deep fried and something different.
I made gumbo balls for the Endymion parade party I went to. Those were a big hit!
You can do the same thing (which I did not long ago)with red beans and rice. Basically like deep fried boudin balls.
