It's back open so I want to take the ole lady out to catch reds. It's been years since I been back there anyone have any tips and in the vicinity spots that the reds will be. I know they in the water and I've had luck there in the past and kinda have an idea where I'm going to start but any info would be great

Hit the famous Bertrand Canal. Only went there once which was several years ago. Sorry, I do not remember how to get to this canal.

my buddy went there yesterday and told me the water was as bad as it could be. they picked up 3 hardheads all day long, and didn't talk to anyone catchin, even on the west side, where the water hardly ever gets bad...bring some crab lines, that was the only thing they caught.

I went yesterday for opening day for the west side of the refuge. We fished till noon and was skunked. The water in Bertrand Canal was chocolate milk and very fresh. We hit all the spots that we knew but nothing. Might go tomorrow if the weather is ok for crabs, I did hear of people catching limits on crabs.

Went Thursday 3/1, nada. First time I scratched in years. The East Side locks (Fresh side) were open and the water was pouring in. It may change in a week. There were a few fish/Reds caught on extreme west side towards the Land Rig I heard. Caught a sack of crawfish arouind Pecan Island.
