I think most guys here are using the Boga Grip. Wanted one but not for $149.99!

I think Outcast said he got one on eBay for about $100 though.

I agree with boga grip. I have a cheap one from Cabelas and it has already cost me a bull red. I was attempting to land a 20+ pound redfish in Grand Isle for yak'em. It was his first redfish on fly rod. I lipped the fish and attempted to bring it in the boat when the grip opened and I dropped the fish back into the water watching it swim away.

I thought the same thing about them not being worth the money till I bought my boga. Got it off eBay for $100 as well.

What is the purpose of a 'lip grip'? Why not a net?

It also has a built in scale that is very accurate. Lot of people rather wade with a boga than a net just cause it's less to carry.

I bought one from bass pro that I liked for like 25 bucks. It was as accurate as a real boga but I lost it wading cause I was too lazy to put a float on it

Boga can also be sent off and certified by igfa for record catches. Also it doesnt harm the fish for catch and release

Personally if it's over 4 pounds I'm gonna net it first even if I'm wading. But I don't catch as many hogs as some of these guys. I don't wanna lose it.
