Over the limit..... Under Arrest
LDWF Strike Force agents cited Lebron Shelby, 46, and Linkton Arnold Jr., 72, both of Raceland, and Michael Musco, 38, of Golden Meadow for taking over the legal daily limit of speckled sea trout. Louisiana law allows 25 speckled trout per day per fisherman. Agents setup surveillance and observed Shelby and Arnold Jr. catching several trout from their boat and then transferring the fish to their truck. The subjects would then allegedly continue fishing. After observing the subjects complete their fishing trip, the agents approached Shelby and Arnold to conduct a license and creel compliance check. The two men were allegedly found to have taken 109 speckled trout ranging from 12 to 17 inches in length, the LDWF announced. In a separate case in the same area, agents said they watched Musco taking 35 speckled trout. For taking over the daily limit of spotted trout, Shelby and Arnold faces fines between $400 and $950, or up to 120 days in jail, or both plus a $25 per fish restitution charge for every fish over the limit. Musco faces a fine between $100 and $300, or up to 60 days in jail, or both plus a $25 per fish restitution charge for every fish over the limit. |

Restitution is determined by inch for redfish. Interesting that it is per fish for trout.

you know what im glad they got in trouble but if they were not just after the money and for conserving the game.....why sit there and watch them till they are finished and let them kill so many more.....not that it hurt the population.....i think its all about money and not what it should be |

I don't get why people can't catch a limit of trout and then go after a limit of reds, and then flounder, make it interesting. I go out and have fun with out breaking the law and plus 25 trout make plenty of fish fillets for a 4 person family, I invite the whole family over when I have a fish fry and there is always leftovers.

I think those same guys were on here a few weeks ago saying they tag everything over their limit rather than fish reds and flounder....but I could be wrong.

I go fish for the sport........A lot of times our 30 trout limit only takes a hour or two..... I hate redfish..........and flounder are only targeted twice a year....spring and fall runs..... I much rather catch and release or tag and release..... In the winter hours, I like to fish all day...... Just cant do it in the summer due to heat... I go find new spots or old spots.....catch fish here and there... Chris Reed and I have had days where we caught well over 500 trout in 8 hours.....to only keep 30...... I have had lots of trout that I tagged re caught and called in...

yeah I dont understand that either, you would think they would shut em down before they killled all those fish illegaly. like you say its all about the dollars. I think the fine should be the same for one over the limit as 10 over the limit |
