lowering the amount of sulfur in diesel is what makes it cost more, the sulfur isn't an additive.

Correct but ULSD does not work well in some older farm equipment.

Ethanol is a scheme foisted upon the public by the corn lobby/green energy fruitloops. If anyone remembers back in the 80's, they had ethanol plants all over Louisiana. EWE was a big backer(wonder why?) but when the plants lost their subsidy they went under. Most of those plants were cut up and shipped to Brazil where they still are right now. BTU's of ethanol can't compete with gasoline which is why you get fewer mpg's with blended gas. Millions of acres of marginal farm land is being tilled because it is easy to grow corn, all you need is irrigation. Flip side is the cost of just about everything else has increased due to contracts for corn being sold to ethanol manufacturers. In the last ten years, my dads farm payments have gone through the roof and will be up again this year due to weather/ethanol. Check out the price of;pork, beef, chicken, ect. in the stores. If they break the corn lobby, our farm income will suffer but the nation will be stronger for it. Sometimes you have to do what is best in the long run and eliminating ethanol as a green energy source is best for our country.

D, five years ago my dad was in North Dakota on a directional job for a month. He called to find out if there was anything he could bring me back and replied, 500 acres of land. At that time you could buy farm land in N Dakota for $250-$500/acre. That same land has gone to $4000-$5000/acre now and driven only by the ethanol boom. It will be hard to end this sham because so many people are on the gravy train; implement dealers, trucking companies, utilities, municipalities, states, venture capitalist, walll street, ect.
