Saw that too and yes it sounded bleak. The lowest Survey count of Bluewinged teal I had seen was from 2009; 126,000. Wonder if this is the year we go lower than that?

Ducks Unlimited just announced they are taking down the nets they use to shortstop teal after immense pressure from Louisiana duck hunters. Should be seeing some soon

I just posted the September survey report. 50,000 teal, lowest count on record, next lowest count was 99,000 in 2002 and long-term average is 238,000.

http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/sites/d...tember2013.pdf

But I also talked with some colleagues in Missouri that said a good pulse of teal went through Wednesday evening, and I've heard from one LWF Commissioner in SW Louisiana that said flocks of over 100 arrived today.

It's late, but hopefully it's happening.
