Default Much Fun and Fishing on the Beach

Went to the beach in Galveston yesterday with my 6 year old daughter, bro in law, and 5 & 7 year old nephews. Waves were 1-2 ft and clearing up nicely. Didn't get there till 10:00 but I was able to step out to the 2nd sandbar while the kids played on the boogie boards and in the sand. I threw an H&H TKO Shrimp in blue moon /chartreuse under a poppin cork. Caught 3 keeper trout and a few dinks. When the kids were ready to fish, we hooked up the Zebco 202's and fished the bottom w/ bait shrimp and it was a fish almost every cast. Mainly it was channel mullet/whiting, croakers, small pompano, rat reds and small puppy drum. Those kids had a blast and those small fish fought great on that light tackle. I was kept busy baiting hooks, re-tying hooks and taking off fish. We added about 12 nice channel mullet/whiting from 12 - 16 inches to the mix (don't know how many we caught and released, but it was a bunch).
It ended up being very productive considering we were just there to play.

Sounds like you had yourself a good time. Will be in Galveston this weekend...might do some wading if weather permits. Been a while since i've wet a line in G-Town. Used to head to class w/ rod and reel in my truck for the mornings the water was so clear you could see the trout in the breaks on the 2nd bar from the seawall. Good times. All my morning professor asked was that i bring him fish on those days!
