Default How's the bass fishing on Vernon Lake?

I am heading up to Vernon Lake for a fishing trip. I was wondering if anyone has any fishing reports?

its slow. I fish there alot. Where are you fishing at ?? Head "5 fingers" region and find deep water 20+ ft. 1 oz carolina rig sinker with a 2' leader and brush hog. garlic scent works good. Stay til dark and keep a pop'r and skitterwalk tied on and its a quick limit of schoolies. Be aware of the slot limit and make sure your up to date on all WLF regulations, boat wise and license wise. Their hammering people on that lake. They are in old beat up boats in civilian clothes. Not the normal WLF attire.

Jordan! My son and I went and met you last year. We are from Lake Charles. Is the Five Finger area the place where we met you?

ohhhhh, we meet again.

yes thats the area deep water is in boat lane. My choice would be watermelon green anything. Baby brush hog or fluke. Garlic dip the tails of both. The little imperfections make a ton of difference. I usually tear a brush hog's arms. Do not tear the entire arms off, but just the back part that connects to the rear of the body. See pic attached. If you are feeling "froggy" (pun intended). Launch at Bevins launch (have to go to anacoco) and take hwy 111 west. You will see the signs. You will be up by the bridge and see the lilly pad mecca. Might need to bring a push pole because it is very shallow to get back in there. Frog city. Buddy caught (6) 5 lbers out of there a few months ago from the bank.

Jordans right on the money, He turned me on to the watermelon baby brush hog's for Vernon and they have been consistent producer's for me.

If you don't want to go after schoolies for you late / early bite a buddy and i had some good success early and late on topwater and baby brush hogs in the 5-6 ft stump flats in front of / across lake from lakeview landing. They move out of there during the heat of the day though.

Most of the watermelon colors work fine on lake vernon, Watermelon red is a great choice in the baby brush hog.

was out this morning and caught two limits of good eaters. Also caught a few nice slot fish that went back.

If your working shoreline back up just a bit and hit the stump beds along shorelines in 6-10ft of water. The wanted a fast retrieve this morning.
