Default Where'd my water go!!??????

House is down to about 10 minutes of hot water. Never had an issue before. All 5 of us could shower 1 after the next and NEVER run out of hot water, now we got only a few gallons, then wait for it to warm up again........if it was electric, I'd have fixed it already, but its gas!!! I can gear it ignite, I know its working, water temp is good, just not for very long........I'm stumped.

Mine did the same thing last month, I opened the drain on the heater & I could not believe all the crud that came out, after flushing it is back to normal.

I've been in the house 3 1/2 years and never have touched it. Looks pretty new.

I was told...[?????]..... that a hot water heater has a pipe inside on the inlet water line that goes down near the bottom of the tank. This is where the heater [burner] is heating the cold inlet water.

If this pipe has broken off, the cold water would be mixing with the hot water next to where the hotwater outlet line is located. This mixing of the hot/cold water would mean that your water would get cold [ie. warm] fairly fast.

Not sure if this is correct..... but it could be your problem.

First.....Flush out the bottom drain and see what it looks like.

Hook a water hose up to it, pinch the flow off time to time, that will help loosen the scale up inside tank. Hose can get hot.

Makr sure power is off before flushing and don't turn it back on until the tank is full of water. But it sounds like you have an element out
