Yep. Seen rafts of 100 or more birds on the calm days out there for years.

Yep. You never saw ducks rafting in the Gulf, and Big Lake, and V bay? Ducks do "Hide" until it's safe to come out and play.

Well I've seen em in Toledo Bend. But that's about it. Hasn't spent all that much time in the saltwater.

I've seen thousands on big lake and in cocodrie just rafted up. Insane how many birds they had just chillin.

Yep, and on calm days thousands raft up in the gulf. I think that's one reason most have better hunting on big south wind days.

That's the exact reason we do. I think when the newer birds get shot up the go to the coast. Then south wind pushes them back . We shoot em they leave and coma back next southwind

Guys you do realize that between all the refuges in SW Louisiana and White lake that doesn't get hunted there is enough land to hold all the birds. Sabine is 124,000 acres you can only hunt on 24,000, Camron Prairie 25,000 only lottery on 3 days a week, Lacassine 30,000 only hunt on 10,000, Rockafella 130,000 you can't hunt. White Lake has at least 20,000 that doesn't get hunted. So that's a lot of land to hold birds. Just that there is so much pressure they we find safe heaven.

Totally agree but a lot raft up off shore and in big bays and lakes also.

We've got thousands of pintail and a couple hundred mallards. Pintail showed up a week before season ended. Mallards showed up Monday

Yea, we are saying the same thing. Some will still say "they just showed up in Louisiana" but I think they been surviving the hunting season and now are moving off of their safe havens.

I'm not attempting to make anyone mad here, and I realize we all spend alot of money on leases, boats, guns, shells etc. However when it comes to ducks and duck hunting many in this sport are "fair weather firends". When times are tough, many of our "waterfowlers" simply do not participate. At the times when our sport needs us the most, many abandon it. At minimum even if you are not going to hunt, at leaset purchase a liscense and waterfowl stamps. This will show that we still support our sport. These numbers (amount of liscened hunters) and revenues brought in from liscense and stamp sales ARE indeed monitored and counted by the state and feds. This is a portion of determining how sate and federal money is distributed to support habatit in our area, and remember waterfowl habatit supports fish, crabs, shrimp, crawfish oysters, countless birds and creatures of all kinds. Additionally, we should all belong to a waterfowl support group and it does not matter which one, Delta, DU, Wildfowl Inc or any of the other smaller orginizations as long as they are supporting waterfowl and the hunter you should be supporting them. I certainly welcome the newcomer to the sport, just don't jump on the bandwagon when it is good and get off when it isn't. I just wanted to weigh in with my 2 cents worth. Thanks for listening.
