Default Crabs

Anyone know if the crabs are running yet. Need to run my boat and that is one easy way to get wife and kids out. Never crabbed in or around B.L.

I saw a crabber setting some pots in Lake Charles last week. First time I ever saw that.

With the warmer water temps., they should start biting pretty good soon.

That's strange, cause it's usually pretty easy to catch crabs around big lake from what I hear

Not trying to be a junior game warden but I thought that Lake Charles and Prien were off limits for commercial crabbing.

No crab traps allowed in Calcasieu Parish for about 30 years now.

I saw a boat putting out 2 rows right off of shell beach drive. May not have been commercial, but I seen them putting them out.

It won't be good for them when they get caught unless the law was changed this year.

I asked LDWF last year about this, because I wanted to put 10 traps out in a canal off Moss Lake and they told me "no wire traps of any kind North of Intracoastal in any part of the Calcasieu Estuary system", but you could probably call 5 times and get 10 different answers.

But that is the law! The traps in the lake need to be reported.
