Yes, that is true but I have also seen maps which show this canal as West Pass. Also, sometimes called Oyster Bayou.

Yeah, I believe it's my Hook N Line map that calls OB, West Pass, and I think it also calls the Old River section, across the ship channel, East Pass. But I never hear the locals use those names for these canals.

Yep, we always called it West Pass, the big cut that comes off to the left is Oyster Bayou and it goes back to Oyster lake. A lot of people call West Pass Oyster Bayou. A lot of people call Rose Bluff Cutoff - Rabbit Island but the Rabbit Island on the map is in West Cove. There are lots of common names for places that are different than what the map says. Oh Well.
