Cousin bought one and only got through a 1/2 box of shells before it broke. There are lemons in every bunch though. Have not been a fan of American shotgun mfg, prefer I talonion for balance and lines.

Shot one for 8 years with no problems. I prefer the Rem. 870 for that price range.

that's what i shoot i bought it for the price 5 years ago and i've never had any major issues with it. Sunday was the first time i had problems with it, but it was because i dropped it in the water when i went to toledo and forgot to clean it. It was hanging up when i ejected a shell, but once it got pumped a few times it quit. Great gun for the price imo. |

Have an 870 Express Super mag... 10 years old and no problems. have used it as a paddle, a beating stick, walking cane, and it still is kicking.... (it does kick though). If you take care of it u should have no problems but there are always lemons in a bunch. dont know about the newer models

Been shooting 870 12 and 20 since I was about 8-9. Great guns. Want the new Browning Auto 5 though.

Yeah just something about the long action recoil on the news instead of the short action recoil like the originals.

I am not a fan of auto's if hunting in the marsh.
I have a friend who shot a Beretta, about the only one I saw that did good in the marshes. Our blinds had weeds with tiny seeds that got into most other auto's and made them stop working. Benelli was pretty good too, but not as good as the Beretta. Brownings and Remingtons were the worst for breaking down or jamming while hunting. The lil hook/clip that grabbed and ejected the shell fell off a lot too. Lot of Brownings were single shot automatics after the seeds got in them. Most brands of pumps were fool proof. |

I hunted brackish/salt water. If you didn't wipe it down daily, it would look like a rust bucket...
Some auto's are better than others. I just heard a lot of cussing cause they get messed up due to all the weeds we used on the blind. All shotguns make the same noise... LOL |

I personaly don't like any auto, rifle or shotgun.... I have shot a pump shot gun, lever action and bolt action and now have a break over rifle, I do have a Browning 20 gauge auto that is very pretty in the gun cabinet but the few times I tried duck hunting with it I was lucky to get 2 shots before it jams.

The autos I seen hunt shoot good for a good while, but when they jam is when the ducks are really flying good.

Have shot 500s for years with never having any issues. They are rock solid and will out shoot the other shotguns I own. I like the position of the safety and chamber release. Allows me to keep my thumb on the safety and switch it to fire before the gun is even to my shoulder. Very quick shots. For some reason I have always gotten great distances with these guns also. Can really reach out and touch something with em.
