Default Need Guide recommendation

Guys: I am trying to put together a trip out of either Venice/Fourchon/Grand Isle in June. Want to target tuna, wahoo, mahi-mahi, and maybe grouper/snapper/AJ. It will be me and 5 friends.

Who would you recommend and why? Prices seem to be comparable. I have fished Venice several times with some different guides but mostly on private boats. Thinking of doing a 24 hour trip. Did this 2 times before and loved it -- nothing like waking up on the rip and being one of the first boats pulling baits while watching the sun rise!

Ideally, I'd like to leave dock around 6 pm, catch live bait on way out along with some fresh snapper/grouper or troll around rigs for wahoo, etc. to cook that night once we get to the tuna rigs. then fish tuna most all night then hit the rip at daybreak, pull baits til around 10 or so and then head closer for some bottom fishing to catch snapper/grouper, etc.

Looking forward to your recommendations.

I've got to give it up for Capt Josh Howard and DeepSouthCharters.com I've had a great time on every outing with him. I have two trips booked with him in March.

I do have to qualify this by saying I haven't been out with anybody else in Venice. I haven't seen any need to. We are usually the last ones back to the dock and also have the most fish. As Jude said, Capt Josh will work his A zz off to put you on the fish. He's not happy until you are!

I agree Capt Josh will put you on the fish however it sounds like you what you want is a sportfisher. Im not sure he has the ability to cook anything on his Contender. You would have to call and ask. I would suggest that any Captain you call you make clear the vision you have in your mind of what the trip should be so you dont feel like you arent getting your moneys worth.

Very true! I do think Capt Josh could steer the OP in the right direction for that also. If you call him make sure you mention you are a member of SaltyCajun.

Grouper closed in June. Opens in July. Wahoo are a winter fish. You can get some smaller ones in the summer but the big ones are now.

I meant red Snapper but the way the regulations are going who knows if grouper or red snapper will be open at all this year.
