Default Surfside, Tx 5/21

Went w/ a couple of buddies yesterday and fished the jetty since the seaweed/sargassum was so bad. Walked out a ways from the big breakers. Water was sandy green from the SW winds blowing.
Started throwing live shrimp and kept getting bites but shrimp were bit in half clean. Tied on Mr Champ silver spoon and hooked up to keeper Spanish mackerel; next couple casts lost spoon due to teeth; buddy has the same happen to him. Put on leaders, no takers. Back to the shrimp and start catching a few more macs and losing some to the teeth. Ended up keeping 17 of the bigger macs between the 3 of us. Also caught trout mixed in w/ the macs. Kept 3 specks up to 20 inches and threw back a few. Also caught a couple macs and trout w/ a Gulp shrimp. no takers on other plastics. 2 sheepshead made the cut along w/ a few whiting/cahnnel mullet. Threw back a couple short reds as well. Saw some bull drum and puppy drum caught by others nearby as well as macs and a couple trout.
Beautiful day out there and it scratched that itch!! Can't wait to hit it again.

Yessir Crab, it's one of my favorite places to fish since I moved here a few years back. Very rarely do i scratch when i go there. Always seem to catch something to make the grease stink or put away in the freezer.

You know it!!
Fishing here is not near as good as GI. I've been spoiled fishing GI and other spots over there. Trying to get back that way soon as I can.
