TWC just showed a man building a 19' levee around his house right now! $8,000 in dirt. Didn't catch the location but he said he ain't leaving his house!

I moved away from there when I was 10. I go there to visit my grand parents a couple times a year and that's about all. I lived in meauraville next to Robert lemoines lumber yard. My grand parents still live in that house.

Smart for building the levee, dumb for not leaving.
Lots of people didn't leave lower Cameron Parish for hurricanes.
After Katrina, it made them think a lot harder.
They all left for Rita, if they didn't, they would end up like the dipsticks
in New Orleans that didn't leave.

gotta give it to the guy but i dont think that a fresh dirt levee is gona hold to flowin water to well, best cover it with ash or somthin cause grasss dont grow that fast
