I told my wife she was not allowed at the house while I was building it. She could go shopping for decorations while I worked on the house. It took me forever to draw the plans(over a year) the way I wanted them and I'll be damned if I was going to have some fu-fu BS she saw on one of those goofy shows screw up my plans. My house is small, only 1,200sq ft, but I was only 20 and broke when I built it. My ceilings are 11ft and vault up to 14ft so that helps make it appear bigger than it really is. I couldn't imagine a 2,000 sq ft house..... That's a whole lot of cleaning !

She has to clean it! My wife likes things pretty plain for the most part. She is not big on that fu-fu stuff. She did manage to pick out a high $ door after she told me there was no reason she couldn't get one for under a grand. I am still thinking about choking her for that! And that front door will never be used

Pricing for cabinets is pretty expensive... 3 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a mantel/media center is alot of material and alot of work depending on what you have designed...

Mine were done out of Maple... I had a kitchen with enclosed refrig, island, and 2 bathrooms... I did all the staining myself to save money

This looks very similar to my kitchen. Same Wall Color, same floors, my cabs are a little lighter color and so is my countertops

Anybody know anything about ac units? Not sure what brand to go with cause I know nothing about them. I do know that we are going with a 5 ton but not sure what SEER to go with either.

Depends on insulation too.. Foam or cellulose... Don't get a builders model. Spend the extra money on a good unit. I'm not up to speed on the specs but if you go with the foam you need to talk to someone that knows A/C work.

Look into American standard, get a 20 seer, most reliable and energy efficient unit I have seen, can't even hear them running. My bill runs about $150 during the hottest part of the summer, that's with two 4 ton units

Anybody know where I can find a 5' shower in stock anywhere within driving distance of Baton Rouge? I had no clue that everybody only keeps 4' showers in stock and now that I am at that stage I found out that a 5' has to be ordered and it will be a minimum of 3 weeks before I get it.
