I got it . When it was first diagnosed my dr. put me on allopurinal . It is caused by high urich acid . The crystals build in your joint causing the pain and inflamation . You can still get an attack on allopurinal but for me it's not as bad . It is a form of arthritis and foods or alcohol is not the reason it comes on .Once you get it you got it for life . You control it , you don't get rid of it ....

Go to walk in clinic and get the shot and 3 pills. After that go to your normal dr to figure out what's causing it. I have had twice in the last month for the first time in my life. New blood pressure medicine as well as the rare glass of wine I drank both times seems to be triggering mine.

I have had it twice but the last time it lasted 2 weeks! Red meat and shrimp caused my last flare up. I was and am taking meds for it but stay away from shrimp and only eat red meat once a week. I was told cokes and gave them up cold turkey. I don't drink as many but still drink cokes. Some guys i worked with had flare ups from smoked meats? My Dr says he sees a lot of cases during the holidays. Lots of different opinions....

I've had gout for about 5 years. Yes, red wine, seafood and red meat are triggers, but I eat those with impunity now that I take daily doses of allopurinol. Haven't had a flare up for about 3 years.

I went all natural. 1 tbs of Apple cider vinegar with mother mixed with 8 ounces of water and a pinch of baking soda in the morning and before bed. Works like a charm and super healthy. Mines always in the top of my foot...biggest trigger is over flexing the top tendon of my foot

Haha-good one. Actually as others have said...allopurinol 300mg. The only thing that I've noticed that brings it on with me is too many peanuts. But since my doctor "upped" me from 100 to 300 mg-now I can eat peanuts. The worst pain came the very first time I got it. Each time after, not near as bad.

I have It and this is how I control it. Drink lots of water. Stay away from soft drinks and beer. Red meat and shellfish sparingly. And lose weight. Go to Mayo Clinic website and there's a bunch of info

Go see Dr Kelly Ryder in Baton Rouge and get a laser treatment. I had it in big toe and and was completely gone by the time I got back to the Ambassador exit. Simply amazing!!!
