Default 36 volt minn kota

I was given a brand new 101lb minnkota 3x riptide 36 volt. My question is my old motor was 24 volts. I don't really have the room for another battery. Will it hurt this motor or burn it up to run it on just 24 volts. I know it will have less power but I am worried about burning it up or how long will batteries last ect
