Default New State Record Gar w/ Bow

Friend sent me this email to work of a neighbor down the road from him just outside of Monroe shot this MONSTER w/ a bow just behind his house in a local bayou. Its gonna be the new state record. It weighed 210lbs. after hanging in that tree for over ten hours. It is 8' 5" long. Could you imagine fighting this Mo-FO. Could posibbly be a new World Record it is being checked into.

I saw one hanging from a rope in a tree in the Atchafalaya basin. I stood on my boat seat and the head was still a good 6" - 8" above me......and the tail was almost touching the water.

I estimate that thing was about 7'-4". Looked like it had been hanging there for a while and was no where near a fat as this gar. It looked like the fish could have bitten the rope an gotten caught....when the water was much higher.

The fish in this picture could be 8.5' long????
