fool. there is structure that blocks the wind on the south part. If you go north that wind has nothing to block it, its just wide open water

FWIW the wind is supposed to switch to North West early in the morning. Of Course weather underground is also saying Big lake only has 2 mph south winds right now?

Kevin ford is out on big lake w/ two guides from big lake guide service. both guides got out their bonoculars.
1st statement is what is that boat over there doing?
Guess the weekend warriors aren't the only ones?

Well made the First trip to Big Lake yesterday and did not do terribly well. Left out of Calcasieu point at 5:35. Pulled into turners bay to only see 3 boats. All 3 boats were on 3 seperate groups of birds so we went around them towards the North. Saw a group of birds working and trolled towards them. First cast with a tandem rig and boom reeled in a 3 and 4 lb. trout. We caught 15 more int he next 20 minutes but only had 3 more keepers. We fished here for another hour but headed south with 5 in the box. Needless to say that was the last trout we caught all day. Ran towards the cut that goes into west cove and caught nothing. Did watch a boat raking in some mule trout on a point near the cove but we kept our distance. Guess the fish were stacked in one spot b/c no one else around was really catching. All in all everyone seemed to be pretty respectful except from the one jerk that decided to just fly through the flock of birds we were trolling up on.
